Brussel vol 2

Hey everybody

Monday was our last full day at Brussels and on Tuesday morning we were already on our way to France. We decided to take a little city Lille, which is close to the border of France, as our next stop before Paris.

In Brussels on Monday we had the pleasure to enjoy a great breakfast that Sietske herself made. It was some fruit, yogurt, homemade muffins and cereal bars - must say it was very good. We were really lucky to get such an awesome host :)

After breakfast we headed out to town again and spent a few ours online looking up hosts for Paris and other fun stuff. Although the weather wasn't very good, it was raining on and off, in the afternoon we still took part of a city tour organized by Use-it. It's a group of local young people who help out tourists by giving out information, making cool maps of cities and organizing some fun events as well. They also had a computer with free internet access at their place so we did some more online couchsurfing and sent out requests. I must say doing all the internet stuff on my smartphone gets old pretty fast - it's not always working the way it should and the screen is also quite small. But yeah, a smartphone is definitely a "must have" object when taking a trip like this. Otherwise we would probably end up spending a fortune at internet cafes.

Later in the evening we took a look around the town some more and checked out places that Sietske recommended. We also did some shopping to get materials for making dinner. Got some nice veggies and yogurt from a Turkish shop and rice noodles from a Chinese shop - got to love the mix of different cultures here in Brussels. Turned out quite a good of a dinner dish.

On Tuesday we got up pretty early and had a delicious breakfast again. Sietske even made some cool "chocolate" to go with the muffins - it was made up of really healthy materials and not really chocolate, but tasted great. Then we packed our bags and headed out. Thank you again for having us over Sietske. We really appreciate it :)

Note of the day: It can rain a lot in Brussels!
